Women's Soccer Defeats Parkland
John Wood Women's Soccer started off with a strong in the first half showing against a gritty Parkland College team in Champaign. The Lady Blazers scored three goals in the first half and held Parkland to only five shots.
Goal #1 came in the 10th minute of the match when Kirsten Kramer finished the ball played by Isabella Arrieta Montero. Goal #2 was in the 20th minute when Sophia Leroux played a ball into the box off of a free kick and it was finished with a headed goal by Isabella Arrieta Montero. The third goal came with 9 minutes left in the first half. Isabella played a ball across the box that was finished by far post runner Baleigh Miller.
The Blazers came out inot the 2nd half slow and lost the momentum. Parkland found the back of net just two minutes into the second half. John Wood was able to answer back with their 4th goal which ended up being the game winner. Baleigh miller played a goal in behind the defense for Mya Wedderburn to run on to, beat the keeper, and finish in the net. Blazers continued to struggle defensively allowing Parkland to score a second goal in the 75th minute and then again in the 87th minute. Fortunately, the Blazers were able to battle through and get the 4-3 win over Parkland.
Next match is at home against Kaskaskia College on Tuesday, October 21st with the start time of 4pm.
