Women's Soccer Poised To Continue Growth
John Wood women's soccer is entering its eighth year with soccer at the college. Over the last eight years, the program has seen growth with the players, the history, and the complex.
Coach Hayley Womack enters her eighth season as the head coach of the women's team and looks to continue building the history and culture of the program.
This season, the soccer complex received major upgrades in the form of concrete pads, permanent benches, landscaping around the field, and a new permanent scoreboard, which is set to arrive soon. These improvements are exciting and will be fully utilized, with the hopes of making student athlete experiences better.
This season, there are 14 players making up the roster from six countries. The roster has eight sophomores looking to lead the team and step up with experience and leadership. We have 5 international players from England, Canada, Jamacia, Kenya, and Colombia. The other 9 players come from multiple states, such as Illinois, Missouri, Louisiana, Kentucky, Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Texas. We are excited to see our strength start in the back with freshman goalkeeper, Kezia Bull, from England. She will have an experience back line with returning center backs Liv Kline and Sophia Leroux. We plan to build from our backline up the field to our offense. We have experience offensively from returners Kirsten Kramer and Isabella Arrieta. Having experience with be helpful this season on the field but also excited to see what the new faces to the program bring!
John Wood Women's Soccer opens the season at home against Richard J. Daley College at 11:00am on Saturday August 23rd.
