Sophomore Cory Miller Jr (Mendon, IL) has been named the 2018-19 Mid West Athletic Conference Male Athlete of the Year. A First Team NJCAA All-American, an NABC All-American, a First Team All-Region, and a First Team All-Conference selection, Miller lead the Trail Blazers in points (21.5 ppg) and assists (2.5 apg), while averaging 5.3 rebounds per game, shooting 50.7% from the field, 44.6% from the three point line, and 77.5% from the free throw line. He leaves JWCC in third in all-time points scored, 6th in career field goals made, and 3rd in free throws made.

To be eligible for the award, an athlete had to be the M-WAC Athlete of the Year for their respective sport. Joining Miller Jr, Parkland College's women's volleyball player Ryleigh Warfel earned the M-WAC Female Athlete of the Year honor.

This is John Wood men's basketball second recipient of the MWAC Male Athlete of the Year award, since its inception in 2015. Jordan Johnson (Waukegan, IL) was recognized following that inaugural year.
