THANK YOU TO ALL OF THOSE THAT ATTENDING THE 2016 TRI-STATE WHITEBOARD SESSION - WE ARE ANXIOUS TO FIND NEW WAYS TO ADD VALUE TO YOU AND YOUR TEAM!

NEW INFORMATION! OCTOBER 22ND, 2016

This upcoming Saturday will be our 2nd annual Tri-State Whiteboard Session – a day committed to an informal, informative, and inclusive basketball discussion among basketball coaches, enthusiasts, and fans from all levels! Last year’s inaugural event provided a great opportunity to have discussions and gather as a basketball community – and I think our adjustments to the itinerary this year will only add to the value of the day (and it will be warmer!). For those of you that have committed to attend, I am looking forward to seeing you Saturday afternoon – for those of you that we have not heard from, clear your calendar – and let’s talk hoops! We are charging only $15 per coach – to only cover our direct cost from the Whiteboard Session.

 3:00pm – 6:00pm Gymnasium Portion – with the players –
John Wood Community College - 1301 South 48th St. Quincy, IL

Discussion format being facilitated by an experienced coach – but not in a ‘normal’ clinic environment. We have asked each of our ‘facilitators’ to show what they do, how they do it, and then engage the group for suggestions, questions, and showing what others do. We forsee a variety of coaches sharing what they do and/or asking specific questions on the topic – and the facilitator will be inclusive with the group. Each 30 minute window may take a small tangent or two – we understand that – but we will try to keep the discussion to specific X’s and O’s during this time frame. We will have our men’s basketball players at John Wood CC available for demonstration purposes. Here is itinerary...

3:00pm – Introduction of the day, format designed to ADD VALUE
3:15pm – Discussion on half court man to man defense – drills, philosophy – favorite defensive drill…facilitated by Coach Brad Hoyt, Head Men’s Coach at John Wood Community College
3:45pm – Discussion on Transition Offense - favorite drill work…..facilitated by Coach Andy Douglas, head boys’ coach at Quincy Senior High School
4:15pm – Discussion on half court man to man offense - favorite drill work……facilitated by Coach Chad Boudreau, assistant men’s coach Wisconsin-Whitewater, former NCAA DI Assistant at Wisconsin-Milwaukee, 20 year college coach
4:45pm – Discussion on individual player development/Team Decision Making, how it fits into practice plan – favorite drill work….facilitated by Coach Matt Pugh, PureSweat Instructor and assistant men’s coach at John Wood Community College
5:15pm – Discussion on Zone Offense – sets/continuities/specials…facilitated by Coach Pat Lepper, Head Men’s Coach at Lincoln College
5:45pm – Closing/Follow up with on floor questions….

Town and Country Inn & Suites (110 North 54th Street • Quincy, IL 62305)

We will have food available and drink available in a banquet room at the Hotel. You are more than welcome to bring your own cooler – but we will have food, water, and beer available for all attendees. Our hope is this will provide a networking opportunity and a discussion opportunity for everyone. We will have large whiteboards available – diagram courts available – for all of you to talk more specifically about something that was brought up at the gym or other additional questions, whether X’s and O’s or philosophy. There is even some discussion about a film session – show a clip and discuss how you guard the action or how would you defend the action…more to come on that….

I am looking forward to seeing you – please forward and bring your coaching colleagues – we will do absolutely everything we can to help YOU get some value out of the day. Everything.

SAVE THE DATE!

TRI STATE WHITEBOARD SESSION
BROUGHT TO YOU BY JOHN WOOD BASKETBALL

INFORMAL  INCLUSIVE  INFORMATIVE

WHEN: OCTOBER 22nd, 2016 - 3:00pm start!

WHAT: BASKETBALL COACHES/JUNKIE CHALK TALK!

WHERE: Starts at JWCC Student Activity Center (3pm) & continues at Town & Country Inn and Suites (6pm) for whiteboard session, food, and drink.

COST: $15 for entire day

WHY: I want to learn! As coaches, none of us have invented the wheel and I learn best when having conversations and interaction. Our area (and beyond) has incredible basketball ‘people’ on the girls/women’s side and the boys/men’s side – let’s use that resource. We want elementary school coaches, junior high coaches, high school coaches, college coaches, and folks that just love the game to feel welcome to sit and listen and share ideas, ask questions, and provide input. I need the help – and things like this will add value to our program in a big way. We not only want to add value to our program – but if we can add value to you, even better! This is not a fundraiser – it is an ‘IQ-RAISER’!

Email your RSVP today!

We will be tweaking a few things with the schedule - but will continue to focus on what we set out to accomplish last Fall. More information to come on this year's itinerary and format - but see below for last year's information and a list of all the coaches that RSVP'd to last year's event. We will begin to track this year's attendees soon - you won't want to miss this day! Fans, current coaches, retired coaches - let's talk basketball.
