1995-1996 Men's Basketball Team

The 1995-96 Men’s Basketball Team captured the Region 24 championship and the District 4 championship and went on to take fifth in the nation in 1996, ending the season with a 32-4 record. Team members (listed by home town/high school) included the following:

  • Rick Thoroman, Beardstown (now general manager of Smoky Jennings Chevrolet in Palmyra, Ill, living in Girard, Ill.)
  • Aaron Littig, Bluffs (now a sales representative for Dot Foods, living in Winchester)
  • Eric Lundberg, Kinderhook/West Pike High School (now a district sales manager for Bo-Jac Seed Co., living in Palmyra, Mo.)
  • Ryan Neisen, Payson (now a firefighter in Hannibal, Mo.)
  • Ed Johnson, Pleasant Hill (now a Country Insurance and Financial Services agent in Monmouth)
  • Edleawn Barton, St. John’s, Antigua (now warehouse manager at Briden Company in St. John’s)
  • Vivian Benjamin, St. John’s, Antigua (now working at Knapheide in Quincy)
  • Kevin Richards, St. John’s, Antigua (now owner of Off the Grill restaurant in Savannah, Ga.)
  • Clint Walker, St. John’s, Antigua (now an information technology worker and a personal trainer in Bronx, N.Y.)
  • Wayne Walker, St. John’s, Antigua (now a customer service manager at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, Green Bay, Wis.)
  • Mike Pasley, Quincy, statistics/sports information (now a social studies teacher at Amboy High School)
  • Richard Allensworth, Quincy, student assistant, who died in 2003. His parents, Richard and Paula Allensworth of La Belle, Mo., accepted the award on his behalf.
  • Phil Buss, Quincy, trainer (now manager of St. Luke’s Hospital outpatient therapy in St. Louis)
  • Doug Kendrick, Quincy, student manager (now employed at Hollister Whitney in Quincy)
  • Randy Greenwell, Quincy, assistant coach (forner dean of transfer, distance and continuing education at JWCC, currently the

    Vice President, Instruct/Student Service at Spoon River Community College)

  • Gary Allen, Quincy, assistant coach (now safety manager for Nebraska Furniture Mart in Kansas City, Mo.)
  • Michael Elbe, Quincy, head coach (returned to his previous position as director of student life and athletics and head men’s basketball coach at JWCC in 2002).
